Safeguarding
Safeguarding is a duty that is rooted in the message of Jesus and the mission of the Church. Everyone should feel both welcome and safe in our churches.
Here in St Margaret's two Parish Safeguarding Co-ordinators
support Father Jamie in the management of Safeguarding. They are
currently Chris McAusland and Catherine Whitten. Their contact details are available on the posters displayed in the hall and at the back of the church.
They have both completed training which is delivered by Diocesan
Trainers, have PVG certificates and have been approved by the Catholic
Church. They work closely with Gillis Centre and the Diocesan
Safeguarding Advisor. Along with Father Jamie they carry out an Annual
Safeguarding Audit.
They also ensure that anyone working with children or vulnerable adults
in the parish has a current PVG certificate, Catholic Approval and have
undergone basic Safeguarding Training.
Currently the details of all volunteers are being updated.
In Gillis Centre the Safeguarding Team is as follows :-
Safeguarding Advisor - Scott Mackenzie scott.mackenzie@staned.org.uk
He is assisted by Elaine Anderson Elaine.Anderson@staned.org.uk (Safeguarding Officer) and Margaret McCluskey Margaret.McCluskey@staned.org.uk (Safeguarding Administrator).
